Temp Air Heat Treatment for Bed Bugs
|
In recent years throughout the
United States there has been a very rapid expansion with the occurrence
of bed bugs. Bed bu gs live in close association with humans and
frequently “hitch a ride” on the luggage of travelers who stay in
motels, hotels or homes that are infested with bed bugs. Bed bugs also
make their way into dwellings when people acquire used furniture. In
multiple dwelling buildings, (apartments, hotels, dormitories, and
condominiums), bed bugs can find their way from infested units into
uninfested ones. How Does One Get Rid of Bed Bugs? There
are many tools for ridding buildings of bed bugs, including: liquid
and dry (dust) residual insecticides; vacuum cleaners; steam equipment;
and even extreme measures such a s fumigation. Unfortunately treatment
for bed bugs using only “conventional” insecticides often requires
multiple trips and extensive insecticide application. At McNeely Pest
Control we have made the commitment to utilize Thermal RemediationR
technology (Heat Treatment) which uses hot ambient air as a control
tool against bed bugs. Heat treatment means using heaters to bring the
temperature of a home, apartment or room, or other area up to a level
above 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Temperatures this high are lethal to all
stages of bed bugs – eggs, young, and adults. For more information concerning bed bugs and their biology, refer to the NC State University Insect Notes on Bed Bugs. To view health risks, refer to Web MD's Bed Bug Treatment Slide Show.
